Screen Print Transfers
Plastisol screen print transfers for that classic, thick-ink look and feel.
Screen Print Transfers — UK Print Lab
Screen print transfers (also known as plastisol transfers) offer a different aesthetic to DTF — a thicker, slightly raised ink deposit that sits on top of the fabric and gives the classic feel associated with traditional garment printing.
How screen print transfers work
Each colour in your design is applied through a separate screen using plastisol ink, building the design up layer by layer onto a release paper. The finished transfer is then heat-pressed onto the garment, where the ink bonds permanently to the fabric. Because each colour requires its own screen, this method is most cost-effective for bold, simple designs with a limited number of spot colours.
When to choose screen print transfers over DTF
- You want a thicker, more tactile ink feel
- Your design uses bold, solid colours rather than gradients or photographs
- You're producing classic or vintage-style branded apparel
- You want the traditional \'print on fabric\' look and feel
For full-colour, photographic or gradient artwork, DTF is generally the better choice.
Artwork requirements
Supply your design as a vector file (AI, EPS, SVG) with each colour on a separate layer or as a clearly separated spot-colour file. High-resolution raster artwork is accepted for simple designs. Contact us if you're unsure which format is right for your design.
Application
Apply with a heat press at the temperature and pressure specified in the instructions supplied with your order. A household iron is not suitable.
